How waycast works
Most weather apps answer “what's the weather?”. waycast answers “does the weather change what I'm about to do?”
Save a trip once
Pick origin, destination and schedule: one-off or recurring (every weekday at 7:45, Saturdays at 9, whatever fits). One plan call routes each leg and samples weather along the timeline.
waycast materializes your week
Every active trip is expanded into concrete occurrences over the next 48 hours, each with scheduled weather checks timed to your alert lead.
Forecasts along the route
At check time we sample the forecast along your actual route at the times you'll be at each point, including stops and stay windows.
A briefing, not a forecast
Rules turn raw forecasts into risk and suggestions; AI phrases it into two friendly sentences. If anything materially changes before departure, you get one heads-up.
Running late? Delay it
If you're heading out later than planned, push the departure back by a few minutes. waycast shifts the schedule and re-checks the weather. No GPS tracking, ever.
Frequently asked questions
- Does waycast track my location?
- No. waycast never uses GPS or live tracking. You tell it your route and schedule once; it checks the forecast along that route at the times you'll be there. If you're running late, you delay the departure manually and it re-checks.
- How is this different from a weather app?
- A weather app answers “what's the weather?” at one place. waycast answers “does the weather change what I'm about to do?” — it samples the forecast along your whole route at the times you'll actually be at each point, then messages you before you leave, and only when it matters.
- What weather data does waycast use?
- Forecasts come from Open-Meteo, routes from Google Routes, and severe-weather warnings from official government CAP alert feeds. An AI model turns the raw numbers into a two-sentence briefing.
- What does the free plan include?
- Up to 3 saved trips, weather checks over the next 48 hours, severe-weather alerts and shareable trip briefings — free forever, no card required. Pro adds unlimited trips, multi-stop routes, sampling down to 5 minutes and a 7-day outlook.
- Can I use it for bike commutes and runs?
- Yes — trips have a travel mode (walk, bike, drive, transit), and briefings account for how exposed you are. Rain that's irrelevant in a car is a headline when you're on a bike or mid-run.
